My name is Brooke Mumbi Wandia, I participated in the Digital Essay Competition in 2019 and emerged as the top winner. I was awarded scholarship money, a tablet, a t-shirt, carrier bags, pens, and a certificate.
I started school in Joshua Kiongo Memorial Church Primary School in Kiambu County from class one to six and later transferred to Fairlawns Public Primary School in Kiambu County where I sat for my Kenya Certificate of Primary Education and excelled with 409 marks. Thereafter, I joined Maryhill Girls High School in Kiambu County where I worked smart and attained an A- of 75 points in my KCSE.
My dream is to join United States International University (USIU) in the hope of becoming one of the best-known diplomats in Kenya and beyond.
The three things that made me won in the Digital Essay Competition were:
- The urge to become a famous writer
- An open mind and the desire to win
My profession is writing and I am currently working on my first book entitled Life is an Enigma. It is a book borrowed from my life story.
My advice to other students is to grab opportunities that come their way. DEC is a wonderful program and, the world is an oyster and DEC is one of them. Don’t fear trying but instead fear losing an opportunity.
