During author engagement sessions hosted by eKitabu across various schools, authors connected with students spanning from reception to senior school. These visits highlighted exceptionally talented young individuals with a strong passion for illustration and writing. To mentor young learners, an exclusive writing and illustration workshop will take place at the Nairobi International Book Fair on Friday, September 25, from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm. Tailored for selected Year 8 (British curriculum) and Grade 7 (Kenyan and American systems) students, this interactive session offers a valuable opportunity for participants to enhance their portfolios.

The Creative Writing and Illustration Workshop is in partnership with the Kura Forest Education Center. It will be led by author, educator, and children's book illustrator Tracy Thomas, together with the manager of the Karura Forest Environmental Education Trust (KFEET), Julie Kimutai, who brings a deep passion for environmental education. Attendees are required to bring their own copy of Tracy Thomas's picture book, Karura at Night. This book showcases the diverse animal life within Karura Forest, aiming to spark curiosity in young minds and foster a commitment to nature conservation.
