In collaboration with Humanity & Inclusion in Kakuma and Dadaab, we had over 800 essay entries from the two camps all responding to the question: What are the hardest and best experiences you have had during the COVID-19 pandemic? In 2021 we also received entries in Arabic for the first time, over 50 entries in total.DEC encourages students to use ICT in learning. It recognizes and rewards students—and the teachers, parents, and caregivers who support them. DEC prizes include scholarship money, computing devices, gift hampers, and national recognition with Kenya MOE for the achievements of students, teachers, and schools.
