Dear Friends,In September, we are finding ways to celebrate locally and globally. First, asanteni sana na pongezi all Kenyan publishers, learners, teachers, parents, ministry officials, and friends who have built the Digital Essay Competition over the past nine years. This year, despite the continuing Covid-19 pandemic, we have received over 6,000 essays from all across Kenya in the following categories: English, Kiswahili, French, Art, German, and now in Arabic including entries in braille and Kenyan Sign Language (KSL) video—all responding to the question: “What are the hardest and best experiences you have had during the Covid-19 pandemic?” Teachers are marking the entries now. We welcome you to check essay.eKitabu.com for updates.Internationally this month with friends and colleagues, we will celebrate International Week of the Deaf, 20th - 26th September, and International Day of Sign Languages on 23rd.
